Earthquake Economic Loss Assessment of Reinforced Concrete Structures Using Multiple Response Variables

For buildings that meet the requirements of current seismic design codes, damage to nonstructural components and internal objects often become main source economic losses these buildings. However, specifications only consider safety ‘no collapse under strong earthquake’ do not ‘functional recoverability’. In this paper, a six-story frame building was taken as an example. Four joint performance limit states were proposed, per FEMA 273, establish two-dimensional probabilistic demand model considers parameter correlations. The state function established, vulnerability curve calculated. intensity–economic loss annual average established by one-dimensional curves compared. results showed structure lower than expected when using curve. situation more serious high-intensity earthquake high-performance levels.
